In 2016, The Standard made a decision to come off the sidelines and start using its platform to speak out on social issues that align with the brand's ethos. We jumped in, not exactly sure where it would lead, but convinced that it was the right thing to do. I helped conceptualize the initiative, developed the message, worked with partner organizations to align our efforts, and curated a content plan to support our efforts. As part of this project, I helped create Ring Your Rep: customized phone booths at the hotels with direct lines to Congress, as well as scripts to guide people through the process of calling their elected officials. In some ways, Ring Your Rep became the centerpiece of the initiative: getting involved, speaking up, learning as you go.
